Before I make a commitment to any candidate I have questions:

    1) Will you actively pursue a single payer/medicare for all system of health care?

    2) What is your commitment to clean energy?

    3) What is your view of black lives matter?

    4) What is you view of the action in North Dakota with DAPL?

    5) Do you believe in global warming?

    6) What is your stance on abortion?

    7) Who did you support in the 2016 election: Hillary or Bernie?

    8) Are you taking contributions from corporations/democratic party?

Ben, that is great you are getting out to talk to folks who want to meet you. We, the northern tier of constituents in Ferry, Stevens and Pend Oreille Counties also want to here from you. When does your North Tour start?

Are you really expecting anyone to send money just because you’ve accomplished a good deed in Spokane and you say you are a democrat.

If you are the candidate for your district then work with the Democratic Leaders in your part of the state. Let them guide you in how to conduct a political campaign and fund raise in a more appropriate manor. If you are in fact legitimate Democrat and are endorsed, Best of Luck!

Tell me your political positions. I don’t want fluff pieces. I want concrete positions and a plan on how you’re going to achieve them. Single payer is a good start, but what are you going to do about Citizens United and the obscene influence money has in politics? Will you vouch to take no Super PAC or corporate money? Will you vouch to stand against Corporate Democrats when their position aligns with their corporate sponsors instead of the people?

Will you stand against President Trump’s escalations in Syria? Will you fight against war propaganda in the Mainstream Media? Will you fight to bring our troops back home? Will you fight to invest in infrastructure to get people back to work? Will you fight for a living wage? Will you fight to end the war on drugs? will you fight the For Profit prison system? Will you fight for higher taxes on the rich? Will you fight the Military Industrial Complex?

Tell me your positions, because I’m absolutely sick and disgusted of politicians spinning the story to avoid hard questions, and so is the rest of the country. You are not perfect and neither am I. Republicans win when Democrats spin, so at least have the balls to make a stand and stick to your positions, or at least admit when you were wrong and do not try to hide your past.

    For your aid, Alex (?).

Hi, I hope that Ben will prepare himself to help end the 102 year old drug prohibition, because it "called into being a drug smuggling industry not before in existence " (Congressman Coffee of Washington, 1938), and the attendant drug pushing for profit, gang violence, deaths from unregulated drugs of unknown composition and potency, and the acquisitive crime that addicts commit to purchase expensive black market drugs — Spokane County is infamous for its burglary rate.

Let the addict return to the doctor’s office, as envisioned in the Harrison Narcotics Tax Act of 1914, and upheld by the US Supreme Court:

Linder 1925 “They are diseased, and are fit subjects for such treatment.” Further, if the act had been prohibitionary, “it would have faced grave constitutional challenges.” Surely President Nixon’s Controlled Substances Act faces a similar challenge; the Constitution hasn’t changed.

    Boyd 1925

    Nigro 1926

    N. R. A. 1935 held that codes like the Treasury Department’s prohibition code have no status in law.

    A. A. A. 1936 quotes Linder extensively, and cites it as illustrating the basic law that the federal government cannot interfere with state jurisdiction over the practice of a profession.

Addicts were living normal, productive lives, in the years before the Treasury Department was able to firmly establish it’s prohibition. The Department’s 1918 inventory of addicts found that they were of all professions, trades, and labors; and successful in their life pursuits.

That’s how America can be again, probably gradually, after we return the addict to the doctor’s office, in obedience to the Harrison Act, and the Supreme Court.

I don’t know the educational level of 5th district voters, on this issue. It would be an interesting question to raise, during the listening tours.

Here’s a balancing concept for you. The supply/demand curve for drugs that are used recreationally, is U shaped. On the right, the more liberal the supply and advertising, the greater the use and abuse. On the left, If the legal supply is pushed to zero, then profit motivation in a black market will push the availability upward. In countries with the lowest use and abuse, the supply is moderate and regulated. For example, on the right, I would like to see the availability of alcohol reduced, and it’s advertising killed. On the left, I would like to see the federal agent withdraw from the doctor’s office, allowing him to once again, prescribe for his addicted patients.

I still think that R’s and D’s each get 25% of the potential vote. I think that 50% don’t vote because both of the major parties represent the oligarchy; and the media, being owned , literally, by the oligarchy, is not presenting the candidates who want to represent us 50 percenters, who are the majority. Part of the 50% believed Trumps’s campaign statements. Desperate, pitiful… Running as a D, I don’t know if you’ll be able to attract the 50 percenters. ?

It was good to see you again, after meeting you with your Dad, a few years ago. Thanks for acknowledging him and NPIP during your opening remarks. Before you spoke, I introduced you to Mark Leeper and his wife Vicki. They both work for the Disability Action Center – NW with headquarters in Moscow, Idaho but live in Pullman. DAC provides independent living services in both WA and ID. Mark has some ideas he would like to send you about Health Care Reform and has asked me for your email address. I cannot find it on your site. Could you forward it to me?

Ben, Ever since Nethercutt beat Foley, I’ve been thinking about a platform for reforming the political paradigm of the 5th District. I would like to discuss with you some of the lingering ideas and energies of that exercise.

I’ll try this once more and hope not to get a boiler plate response.

    It’s not a tricky question.

Do you have a Townhall schedule for the Chewelah/Colville area?

Please send a mail address so that I can send you a contribution by post. The online contribution form is not friendly to a retired person with no employer info. to fill the blanks. N/A doesn’t do it.

    Hi Ben:

Below you will find the link that gives more information about the GOP robocall and their attempt to disrupt your town hall.

    Thanks for all you do,

May the Force be with you,

You sent me a disparaging message with a picture of white men. You are a white man and so, by your own admission, you are not worthy of office. I will pass it along to my peers.

I am wondering about any developments in Vinegar Flats Neighborhood. What is the status of the Publlic Market space on 7th? And is there any other proposed development for the neighborhood?
